As a senior associate attorney, Tomás Prieto delivers unique expertise in IP work. He has a primary focus on patent prosecution work and specializes in all matters related to business methods and software technologies.
Tomás’ unique insight into the patent process derives from his previous position as a patent examiner at USPTO. He offers clients an expansive knowledge into the patent process from all angles. He provides creative and insightful solutions to clients’ individual patents through collaboration with our team.
Tomás received a bachelor’s degree in general engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his juris doctor from DePaul University in Chicago. Prior to coming to Fish IP Law as an associate, Tomás worked at a Chicago-based patent search firm and as a patent examiner with the USPTO. He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice law in the USPTO and the state of Illinois
In his free time, Tomás loves spending time with his family. He also enjoys staying active – skydiving and riding his motorcycle – and watching sports and playing video games. Tomás also speaks Spanish fluently and is conversational in Portuguese.
